Project: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
The "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Norra Djurgårdsstaden" development project will demonstrate and investigate how a new type of IoT-based infrastructure for the waste industry, recycling, reuse, and the sharing economy can be scaled up at the district level.
The project is run by Stockholm Vatten och Avfall together with KTH, The Royal Institute of Technology, the University of Agder, and several property owners in the Royal Seaport area.
Expected results include contributing to improved sorting rates, cleaner fractions, reduced residual waste, increased sharing and reuse among residents, as well as increased knowledge related to waste, sorting, and the pneumatic waste collection system. The project is part of the IoT Sweden innovation program, a joint initiative by Vinnova, Formas, and the Swedish Energy Agency.
Participants in "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" have access to an app, Envac Reflow, where they can:
- See the status of the waste vacuum system, report problems, and get feedback.
- Read guides on how and where different materials are sorted where they live.
- Get smart tips on how to live more climate-friendly in their everyday lives.
- Get feedback and see the climate impact of their sorting, the district's sorting, and the property's sorting in the waste vacuum system.
The project is an upscaling and further development of 3R and LocalLife and will be reported in autumn 2024.
